Softball Game Preview: Lemont Lemont HS vs. Karns Beavers

The Lemont Lemont HS will head out to challenge the Karns Beavers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Karns took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lemont, who comes in off a win.

Lemont will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Hinsdale South on Thursday. The Lemont HS were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Hornets.

Mila Mardjetko looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Lemont let Natalie Pacyga and Jessica Pontrelli run wild. Pacyga went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Pontrelli scored four runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Pacyga a new career-high. Ania Liptak was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Lemont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hinsdale South only posted an OBP of .071.

Meanwhile, Karns suffered their biggest defeat since April 18, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Powell, falling 13-6.

The win got Lemont back to even at 1-1. As for Karns, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.
