Argyle repeats as the MaxPreps National Champion.

For the second straight year, Argyle (Texas) is the No. 1 team in the 2019 Final MaxPreps Top 50 national high school baseball rankings.

The Eagles, under coach Ricky Griffin, completed a spectacular two-year run that included 77 wins, one loss, one tie and two Class 4A state championships. Argyle is also 21-0 in the postseason over the past two years, including 11-0 in 2019. A total of 14 Argyle players made the All-District team in District 8-4A with 10 making the Denton Chronicle All-Area team. Argyle also finished the season with 28 straight wins. The lone loss for the Eagles came against Class 6A state champion Carroll.

IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) had an outstanding season in its own right, winning its own National Classic and the Perfect Game Showdown. If not for a loss to Blessed Trinity (Roswell, Ga.) and lack of a postseason schedule, the Ascenders would be the No. 1 team in the nation, due in large part to their six MLB draft picks.

Cypress (Calif.) also had a stellar season, winning the Southern Section Division 1 tournament — arguably the toughest tournament in the country. The Centurions defeated Top 50 teams Harvard-Westlake (No. 18), La Mirada (31) and Yucaipa (32) during the playoffs, and Huntington Beach (25) and Orange Lutheran (20) during the regular season. Losses to St. John Bosco, Mira Costa and Orange Lutheran are likely the only thing that kept Cypress from a No. 1 ranking.

Then there is Blanchard (Okla.), which finished with the best overall record in the nation this year at 39-0.

The only movement in this week's rankings come at No. 10 and No. 49. Andrean (Merrillville, Ind.) moved up to No. 10 after beating Edgewood, 2-1, in the Indiana Class 3A state championship game on Tuesday. The title was the second in a row for the 59ers and it was their 35th straight win.

Regis Jesuit (Aurora, Colo.) moved up to No. 49 from No. 50 after Hickory (Va.) lost in the Virginia state playoffs. The only addition this week was St. Mary Prep (Orchard Lake, Mich.), which won the Michigan Division 2 state championship.

Player of the Week: Michael Doolin, Andrean. Besides striking out 15 batters in the Indiana Class 3A state championship game, Doolin also had a sacrifice fly that scored the tying run in the bottom of the sixth.

Game of the Week: Andrean 2, Edgewood 1 - Michael Doolin of Andrean, the Gatorade State Player of the Year, and Luke Hayden of Edgewood battled in a pitcher's duel with each going five innings without giving up a run. Edgewood scored a run off Doolin in the top of the sixth, but Andrean answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Doolin. After Doolin struck out the side on 12 pitches, Andrean loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh on a double by Rigo Martinez, a single by Joel Holtcamp and a walk to Michael Lelito. With no outs, Manny Sannito knocked a bloop hit to right field that scored the winning run. Doolin finished with 15 strikeouts, while Hayden had 10.

Streaks: Silo (Okla.) has the top win streak heading into next season at 40 in a row, Blanchard (Okla.) is next at 39 wins, Andrean (Merrillville, Ind.) follows 35 while Center Moriches (N.Y.) has 32 in a row.
