Basketball Recap: Winfield Comes Up Short

Winfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 58-51 to the Hoover Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-62 last Thursday.

Hoover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dane Hatfield led the charge by putting up 21 points. The game was Hatfield's 13th in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Riley Johnson, who posted 16 points.

Winfield's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Hoover, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

Coming up, Winfield will take on Nitro at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hoover, they will face off against Princeton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hoover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
