Leon has gone 8-1 against Bainbridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Leon Lions face off against Bainbridge Bearcats at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Bainbridge will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Leon extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Lions blew past Florida State University High School 10-2. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Caleb Horne, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Baker Safley was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bainbridge). They were the clear victors by an 18-6 margin over Westover on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bearcats.
Bainbridge got a massive performance out of Parker Landrum, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Landrum has become a key player for the Bearcats: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Griffin, who scored five runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4.
Bainbridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Leon's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Bainbridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
Bainbridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Leon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. It's a different story for Bainbridge, though, as they've only averaged .350. Will they be able to contain Leon's hitters?
Leon was able to grind out a solid victory over Bainbridge when the teams last played back in March of 2019, winning 5-2. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Bearcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
