Midway (Waco) is off to a 21-2 start and ranked No.1 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 6A state poll.

The Panthers of coach Ryan Porter took down some strong teams last weekend including Rouse (Leander) and Canyon (New Braunfels) on the way to capturing the Leander ISD Volleypalooza.

Midway's Allye Beth Deaton was named MVP and fellow 6-foot-1 senior outside hitter Samantha Sanders was an all-tournament selection along with Callie Williams. Deaton (TCU), Sanders (Texas A&M) and Avery Rhodes (Iowa State) have made verbal college commitments.
