Softball Recap: Yucca Valley Extends Winning Streak to Four

Yucca Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Garey Vikings as they made off with a 12-4 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by eight runs or more this season.

Alyssa Ramos was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Yucca Valley got a massive performance out of Tayla Monroy, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI, one triple, and one double. The dominant performance gave Monroy a new career-high in RBI. Hannah Cusack was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 4-for-4.

Yucca Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in three consecutive games.

Yucca Valley now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Garey, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Yucca Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 25-7 victory against Xavier Prep on the 17th. As for Garey, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 7-4 win against Montclair on the 17th.
