Basketball Recap: Makenna Welsh Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Wheeler

South Central won the last time they faced Wheeler and things went their way on Wednesday too. The South Central Satellites came out on top against the Wheeler Bearcats by a score of 41-34.

South Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenna Welsh, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Ashlen Strauch was another key player, putting up ten points.

Several Bearcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Izabela Schumacher, who had five points and nine rebounds. Schumacher is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kylie Simpson, who posted six points and six rebounds.

South Central's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Wheeler, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

South Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-28 defeat against Elkhart Christian Academy on the 21st. As for Wheeler, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 34-29 loss against Morgan Township on the 19th.
