Baseball Game Preview: Appleton North Lightning vs. Appleton West Terrors

The Appleton North Lightning will head out to face off against the Appleton West Terrors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Appleton North has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Appleton North will head out to face Appleton West after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. The Lightning fell just short of Neenah by a score of 3-1. The game marked the Lightning's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Appleton West couldn't beat Fond du Lac on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Terrors might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 7-6 to the Cardinals, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Quinn Meyers was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kellin Gilbert, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Appleton West's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Appleton North, the defeat was their first at home, dropping their record down to 8-3.

Everything went Appleton North's way against Appleton West when the teams last played back in April, as Appleton North made off with a 9-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lightning since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
