Basketball Recap: Maclay Makes It Three in a Row at Home

If Altha wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Maclay, they should've done a better job of containing Lauren Guyer. The Maclay Marauders simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the Altha Wildcats 47-10 thanks in part to Guyer, who went 8 of 19 en route to 17 points and five rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Maclay's points.

Jose Aguilar was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Maclay pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.7 points per game. As for Altha, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maclay won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. John Paul II at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maclay is facing St. John Paul II at the right time seeing as St. John Paul II is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Altha, they will challenge Liberty County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
