Volleyball Recap: Sam Rayburn Comes Up Short

Sam Rayburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Dawson Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-5, 25-8, 25-7.

Cincere Austin paced Sam Rayburn's offense, picking up three kills. Austin got some help from Leah Hernandez and her five assists.

Dawson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elizabeth Jones led the charge by getting five aces.

Sam Rayburn's loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Dawson, their win was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 34-4.

Sam Rayburn has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Dobie on the 21st. As for Dawson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Alvin on the 21st.
