Softball Recap: Muir Comes Up Short

Muir extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 12-9 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Burbank Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since March 24th.

Muir saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaida Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Brown has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

As for Burbank, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11-1 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 10th.

On Burbank's side, Maddison Kellogg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, Kellogg is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game.
