Recap: Blackstone-Millville Chargers vs. Whitinsville Christian Crusaders
Even though the Blackstone-Millville Chargers have not done well against the Whitinsville Christian Crusaders recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Blackstone-Millville took down Whitinsville Christian 50-34. For Blackstone-Millville, this counts as revenge for the 51-38 defeat Whitinsville Christian walked away with the last time they faced one another on January 3rd.
Blackstone-Millville was led to victory by Jackson Dunton and Brady Folster. Dunton scored six points along with five steals, while Folster scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Dunton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ousman Touray, who scored four points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Whitinsville Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caleb Deters. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. That was a full 50% of Whitinsville Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Isaiah Plantinga was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Blackstone-Millville's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Whitinsville Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Blackstone-Millville will head out on the road to challenge Sutton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Whitinsville Christian, they will be playing at home against Douglas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
