Basketball Game Preview: Camden County Bruins vs. Perquimans Pirates

Camden County is 0-10 against Perquimans since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Camden County Bruins will look to defend their home court against the Perquimans Pirates at 6:00 p.m.

Camden County is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against Northside - Pinetown, falling 49-24. One positive for the Bruins, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Aaliyah Anderson put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted four points and ten rebounds. Anderson is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Doppler, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Perquimans put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Northeastern 64-39. Fans of the Pirates have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Camden County better keep an eye on Lailana Marie Harris. She was instrumental in Perquimans' win, dropping a triple-double on 24 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. The dominant performance gave Marie Harris a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Kaydee Hunter, who had nine points and three steals.

Perquimans' win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Camden County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Camden County has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Perquimans struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
