Basketball Recap: GEO Next Generation Skates Past Collegiate with Ease

GEO Next Generation won the last time they faced Collegiate and things went their way on Monday too. The GEO Next Generation Tigers blew past Collegiate, posting a 72-30 win. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 20 points or more this season.

GEO Next Generation's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dwight Pinkney led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. Pinkney is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony Brooks, who posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

GEO Next Generation smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

GEO Next Generation has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points over those games. As for Collegiate, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-19.

GEO Next Generation and Collegiate could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. GEO Next Generation will square off against University Lab at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 105 places (134 vs. 29). Similarly, Collegiate (ranked 310th) will meet Southern Lab (ranked 35th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
