Preview: Travelers Rest Devildogs vs. Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers

Travelers Rest is 1-9 against Blue Ridge since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Travelers Rest Devildogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Travelers Rest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-46 to Chapman.

Despite the defeat, Travelers Rest got a solid performance out of Gabriella Huskey, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 41.3% of Travelers Rest's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Crain, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Blue Ridge unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chapman. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Blue Ridge came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Chapman is ranked 106th).

Travelers Rest's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-4.
