Basketball Game Preview: Hackberry Mustangs vs. Oberlin Tigers

The Hackberry Mustangs will take on the Oberlin Tigers in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hackberry is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Hackberry came up short against Evans and fell 53-42. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Eagles are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oberlin). They came out on top against Welsh by a score of 59-51 on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Oberlin picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Hackberry, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Everything went Hackberry's way against Oberlin in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Hackberry made off with a 59-37 victory. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
