Soccer Game Preview: Lincoln vs. Pioneer

The Lincoln Lions will square off against the Pioneer Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pioneer took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lincoln, who comes in off a win.

If Pioneer heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Lincoln took over last week. Lincoln came out on top against Branham by a score of 3-1 on Friday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 307th, while the Bruins are ranked 700th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Pioneer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to Westmont. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly two goals.

Lincoln now has a winning record of 7-6-4. As for Pioneer, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10-1.

Lincoln beat Pioneer by a goal when the teams last played back in January, winning 2-1. Will Lincoln repeat their success, or does Pioneer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
