Baseball Game Preview: Whiting Oilers vs. Merrillville Pirates

The Whiting Oilers will face off against the Merrillville Pirates at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Whiting and eight for Merrillville dating back to last season.

Friday just wasn't the day for Whiting's offense. They came up short against Highland on Friday, falling 6-0.

Whiting saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Maley, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Merrillville lost 16-8 to Kankakee Valley on Friday.

Whiting's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Merrillville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
