Softball Recap: St. Mary Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matchups, St. Mary finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They came up short against the Rutherford Bulldogs, falling 9-1. The contest marked the Gaels' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

St. Mary's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for Rutherford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1-1.

St. Mary has already played their next matchup (against Wayne Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Rutherford, they will host Ramsey at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
