RJ Koopman leads a balanced attack to beat Frewsburg

Recap: Fredonia Hillbillies vs. Frewsburg Bears

The Fredonia Hillbillies entered their tilt with the Frewsburg Bears with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Fredonia took down Frewsburg 67-50 on Monday. That's two games straight that Fredonia has won by exactly 17 points.

Fredonia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but RJ Koopman led the charge by scoring ten points along with nine assists. That's the first time this season that Koopman posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Davion White, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

When it comes to explaining why Frewsburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Smith. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That was a full 48% of Frewsburg's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kael Collver was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Fredonia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Frewsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fredonia's road trip will continue as they head out to face Salamanca at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Salamanca is on a five-game streak of home wins, Fredonia a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Frewsburg, they will head out on the road to square off against Falconer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
