Incarnate Word Academy is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will welcome the Holy Cross Knights at 7:30 p.m. Incarnate Word Academy is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Incarnate Word Academy saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell 48-42 to Gregory-Portland.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Holy Cross and Jefferson, and Holy Cross kept the tradition alive. The Knights were the clear victors by a 62-36 margin over the Mustangs on Tuesday. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 26 points or more this season.

Holy Cross' win came from a few key players Incarnate Word Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Josiah Marin, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 16 points. What's more, he also posted a 57% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February. Another player making a difference was Steve Hernandez, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Holy Cross' victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.9 points over those games. As for Incarnate Word Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Incarnate Word Academy came up short against Holy Cross when the teams last played back in January, falling 69-56. Thankfully for the Angels, Aaron Garcia (who shot 48% from the field on his way to 28 points along with five assists and five boards) won't be suiting up this time.
