Football Recap: Mater Dei Picks Up 14th Straight Win at Home

It's playoff time, and Mater Dei had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victor by a 37-15 margin over the De La Salle Spartans on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won nine matches by 20 points or more so far this season.

Mater Dei had a senior duo take command as Dash Beierly threw for 355 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt and Jordon Davison rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance gave Beierly a new career-high in passing yards. 89 of Beierly's passing yards were hauled in by Gavin Honore, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Mater Dei didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Abduall Sanders, Shaun Scott, and Ace Leutele picked up one apiece. Mater Dei got some further help from Lucas Campizta: he made 11 total tackles (1.5 for loss).

Mater Dei's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points per game. As for De La Salle, with the loss, they broke their 12-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-1.
