Softball Game Preview: Oswego Panthers vs. Oswego East Wolves

Oswego and Oswego East are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Panthers will head out to challenge the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oswego will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

On Wednesday, Oswego had just enough and edged out Minooka 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted against the Indians since April 27, 2021.

The team relied heavily on Kiyah Chavez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adalynn Fugitt, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

Meanwhile, Oswego East hadn't done well against Yorkville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Wolves walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Foxes. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Addy Dunn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

At the plate, Danielle Stone was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Sammy Herrick also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Oswego pushed their record up to 15-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Oswego East, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Oswego beat Oswego East 14-9 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
