Recap: Hillsborough Terriers vs. Clinton Dragons
If the Hillsborough Terriers were feeling good off their 83-46 takedown of The First Academy Royals on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hillsborough took a 67-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clinton. While losing is never fun, Hillsborough can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 209th in Florida, while Clinton is ranked 46th in Tennessee).
Hillsborough lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jojo Cruz-Smartt, who scored 21 points. That's the first time this season that Cruz-Smartt scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Ja'mya Roberson, who scored 16 points.
Hillsborough's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Clinton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.
Hillsborough will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chamberlain at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th. As for Clinton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
