Basketball Preview: San Benito Greyhounds vs. Weslaco Panthers
The San Benito Greyhounds will head out on the road to face off against the Weslaco Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Benito has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
While it was all tied up 22-22 at halftime, San Benito was not quite the Falcons' equal in the second half on Friday. San Benito took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. While losing is never fun, San Benito can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1127th, while the Falcons are ranked 343rd).
Meanwhile, Weslaco didn't have too much trouble with the Raiders on the road on Tuesday as they won 55-37.
San Benito dropped their record down to 5-16 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Weslaco, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-17 record this season.
San Benito might still be hurting after the 44-24 loss they got from the Panthers in their previous meeting back in January. Can San Benito avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
