Baseball Recap: Schurr Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Schurr's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Montebello Oilers by a score of 4-1. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 victory the Oilers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Logan Trevino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Schurr's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 5-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Liam Lu was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Joseph Hernandez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Schurr has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Montebello, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 12-6.

Schurr will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Oilers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
