Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Randolph Wildcats vs. Asheboro Blue Comets

Eastern Randolph is 2-8 against Asheboro since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eastern Randolph Wildcats will host the Asheboro Blue Comets at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Friday, Eastern Randolph might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Wheatmore an easy 53-32 victory. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 450th, while the Warriors are ranked 156th).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 51-15, which was the final score in Asheboro's tilt against Eastern Guilford on Saturday. The matchup marked the Blue Comets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

A'Mya Mosby was Asheboro's leading scorer, having posted four points. Patience Cummings held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. Malaika Khan took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Asheboro has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Eastern Randolph, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Eastern Randolph came up short against Asheboro in their previous meeting back in January, falling 49-38. Thankfully for Eastern Randolph, Sion Murrain (who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
