Softball Recap: North's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but North ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the South Rebels 6-5. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rangers as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Bailey Licht made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over eight innings pitched. Licht was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Maddy Ferrari was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Avery, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.

North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South only posted an OBP of .361.

North's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for South, they dropped their record down to 5-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Coincidentally, North and South will both be playing Mayfield the next time they take the field. The Rebels will host the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Rangers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
