Softball Recap: Springfield Tigers vs. Mineral Ridge Rams

Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 15-4 to the Mineral Ridge Rams. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Springfield of the 15-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture last Saturday.

Rachel Malatok was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Jones, who went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

On Mineral Ridge's side, Lily Merolillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. As for Mineral Ridge, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Western Reserve at 5:00 p.m. Both teams will come into the match having just posted big wins, so someone is set to suffer a big change in fortunes.
