The North Valleys Panthers will be staying on the road to face off against the Fernley Vaqueros at 7:30 p.m. on February 12th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, North Valleys was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-56 to Wooster.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Josh Hunter, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kadyn Shackelford, who scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks.

Meanwhile, Fernley entered their tilt with Lowry with 15 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 16. Fernley snuck past Lowry with a 66-60 victory on Saturday. Given Fernley's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Lowry is ranked 59th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Valleys' defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Fernley, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-2.

North Valleys was taken down by Fernley 62-24 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can North Valleys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
