Baseball Recap: Lutheran West Comes Up Short

If Lutheran West was feeling good fresh off their 18-0 takedown of Trinity on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Longhorns took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gilmour Academy Lancers on Wednesday. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2017.

Brandon Schneider was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Lutheran West's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

Lutheran West's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Gilmour Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran West will host Beachwood at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gilmour Academy, they will welcome Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
