Softball Recap: El Segundo's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

El Segundo came tearing into Thursday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Mater Dei Monarchs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-2.

Jacy Lindsay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, El Segundo let Sienna Mayer and Carter Cswaykus run wild. Mayer scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Cswaykus went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits Mayer has posted since back in February of 2024. Taryn Walker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

El Segundo's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mater Dei, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5-1.

El Segundo has already played their next matchup, a 7-4 win against Crescenta Valley on the 21st. As for Mater Dei, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 4-0 defeat against Fullerton on the 21st.
