Baseball Recap: East Central Homeschool Wins Going Away Against Tabernacle

East Central HomeSchool barely beat Tabernacle the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The East Central HomeSchool Patriots were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over the Tabernacle Torches on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won three games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Andrew Barksdale made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. East Central HomeSchool is undefeated when Barksdale posts eight or more strikeouts, but 1-4 otherwise. Barksdale was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew McGowan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. Jack Taylor was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

East Central HomeSchool was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

East Central HomeSchool now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Tabernacle, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, East Central HomeSchool will be playing at home against Tuscaloosa Home Educators at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tabernacle will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Clay County Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on April 4th.
