Softball Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

Eastern Greene hit Mitchell with a four-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bluejackets fell just short of the Thunderbirds by a score of 9-8. The Bluejackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Eastern Greene, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mitchell will square off against Crawford County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolfpack have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.86 runs per game on average), something the Bluejackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Eastern Greene, they will face off against North Daviess at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The match will give the Thunderbirds their first taste of in-conference action this season.
