Baseball Recap: Fremont Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Fremont can now relate to. They came up short against the Fort Wayne Canterbury Cavaliers on Monday, falling 14-5. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 15-4.

Fremont saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colten Guthrie, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Guthrie's first of the season. Cayden Hufnagle was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Fremont has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-14 record this season. As for Fort Wayne Canterbury, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.

Fremont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fort Wayne Canterbury, they will take on Triton on Saturday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cavaliers surely won't give up without a fight.
