Bennington took down Platteview on Monday, a win that might not have happened without Brandt Schmidt's standout performance. Schmidt turned in nothing short of a gem, striking out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
