Softball Game Preview: ITW David Speer Academy Pride vs. Leyden Eagles

The ITW David Speer Academy Pride are taking a road trip to square off against the Leyden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. ITW David Speer Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.

ITW David Speer Academy will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Elgin on Saturday. The Pride blew past the Maroons 19-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Pride as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

ITW David Speer Academy got a massive performance out of Miabella Collazo, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Anaiyah Costoso was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

ITW David Speer Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Leyden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Lane Tech, falling 7-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Leyden saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Cortez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

ITW David Speer Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Leyden, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
