Gatewood hasn't had much luck against Piedmont Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Gators will welcome the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Wednesday, Gatewood didn't have quite enough to beat Putnam County and fell 3-2.
Gatewood actually scored more points across those five sets (103-102), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-23, 23-25, 14-25, 15-13.
Meanwhile, Piedmont Academy suffered their biggest loss since August 21st on Thursday. They came up short against Jones County, falling 3-0. Considering the last time the Cougars couldn't score was back in August, the team can't take the result too hard.
While Piedmont Academy was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-19, 25-15.
Gatewood's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Piedmont Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
