Basketball Recap: Kotzebue Piles Up the Points Against Homer

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Kotzebue on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Homer Mariners out of the water with a 58-30 final score. The Huskies pushed the score to 43-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mariners had little chance of recovering from.

Kotzebue has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Homer, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

Kotzebue will head out to challenge Unalakleet at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Unalakleet will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Kotzebue surely won't give up without a fight. As for Homer, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-35 defeat against Nome-Beltz on the 1st.
