Basketball Recap: Kamden Rozier's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marion Center over River Valley

Marion Center was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the River Valley Panthers. If the Stingers were looking for revenge after losing 60-57 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Marion Center lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kamden Rozier, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Pack, who posted 18 points.

River Valley was led to victory by Max Persichetti and Nicholas Mortimer. Persichetti almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds, while Mortimer went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds. Persichetti's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Marion Center's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for River Valley, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Marion Center will take on Homer-Center at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Marion Center is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season. As for River Valley, they will face off against West Shamokin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. West Shamokin will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something River Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
