Softball Recap: Hanover Nighthawks vs. Biglerville Canners
Hanover had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-12 to make it four. They lost 21-4 to the Biglerville Canners. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Canners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-2 on April 9th.
Elizabeth Valentine made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Rutledge, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
As for Biglerville, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-4. Considering they have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Biglerville's side, Jocelyn Miller was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Peterson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Looking ahead, Hanover is taking a road trip to take on York Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Nighthawks are facing the Fighting Irish at the right time seeing as the Fighting Irish are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Biglerville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairfield at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
