Baseball Recap: Nooksack Valley Takes a Loss

Nooksack Valley extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-14 in the process. They came up short against the Ferndale Golden Eagles, falling 10-1. If the Pioneers were looking for revenge after losing 13-9 to the Golden Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Nooksack Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Ferndale, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

On Ferndale's side, Nolan Boleak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Boleak also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Golden Eagles are 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Braylon O'Breen, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Carson Brown, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Nooksack Valley will head out to square off against Lynden Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ferndale, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Mt. Baker at 4:00 p.m. The Golden Eagles are facing the Mountaineers at the right time seeing as the Mountaineers are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
