Weld Central is 0-3 against University since March of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Rebels will host the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m.
On Friday, Weld Central came up short against Sterling and fell 9-4. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nathan Dinges was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Weld Central is 2-1 when Dinges posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-12 otherwise. Luke Witzel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, University came tearing into Saturday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
University let Brody Duran and Will Korby run wild. Duran went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Korby got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Duran a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Viken, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
University pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Weld Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Weld Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Weld Central suffered a grim 19-0 defeat to University when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
