Softball Recap: Sulligent Wins Going Away Against Lamar County

While Sulligent put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Lamar County. Sulligent was the clear victor by a 13-0 margin over Lamar County. That looming 13-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Blue Devils yet this season.

Kallie Taylor made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Lann, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in triples (two). Ella Wheeler was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Sulligent and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Lamar County, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12.

Looking ahead, Sulligent will venture away from home to challenge Red Bay at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sulligent is facing Red Bay at the right time seeing as Red Bay is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Lamar County, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Berry at 1:30 p.m.
