Baseball Game Preview: Provo Bulldogs vs. Payson Lions

For the second straight game, Provo will face off against Payson. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Provo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Payson will be up against a hot Provo team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Bulldogs walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Lions on Wednesday.

Gehrig Orchard was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Ty Nielsen also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Provo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Payson only managed five hits.

This is the second loss in a row for Payson and nudges their season record down to 8-15. As for Provo, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.

Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Provo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432.
