Volleyball Recap: Tucson High Magnet School Takes a Loss

Tucson High Magnet School managed to slip by Marana the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Badgers lost 3-0 to the Tigers on Tuesday. The Badgers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

While Tucson High Magnet School ultimately came up short, they really made Marana work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-18, 25-14.

Axel Fraser paced Tucson High Magnet School's offense, picking up ten kills. Fraser got some help from Taltos Geml and his 15 assists. Geml was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Tucson High Magnet School has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Marana, they moved to 12-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Tucson High Magnet School will take on Sunnyside at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Badgers are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Marana, they will square off against Rincon/University at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
