Basketball Recap: Grace Christian Skates Past Living Water Christian with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grace Christian). They blew past the Living Water Christian Warriors 96-60 on Thursday. The win almost wasn't to be: the Crusaders were down 45-0 in the third quarter.

Grace Christian found their leader in sophomore Grant Jacques, who went 8 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jacques has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaedyn Cole, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points.

Grace Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 30 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Living Water Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dwight Hooker made all 10 shots he took to post 28 points and three steals. Those 28 points set a new season-high mark for Hooker. Peyton Pennington was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Grace Christian and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for Living Water Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Grace Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-13 win against Coastal Christian on the 20th. Living Water Christian and Pamlico County will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th. Living Water Christian is facing Pamlico County at the right time seeing as Pamlico County is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
