Baseball Game Preview: Grape Creek Eagles vs. Clyde Bulldogs

Grape Creek is 0-8 against Clyde since March of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Grape Creek Eagles will face off against the Clyde Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Grape Creek has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Grape Creek is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to Merkel.

Grape Creek saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lane Kluesner, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clyde, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Sweetwater 13-3 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Aidan Spurlock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Guzman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Caden Winters, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Clyde's win bumped their record up to 8-3-1. As for Grape Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Grape Creek might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from Clyde in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Grape Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
