Football Game Preview: Ledyard Colonels vs. Woodstock Academy Centaurs

The Ledyard Colonels are taking a road trip to square off against the Woodstock Academy Centaurs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ledyard knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Woodstock Academy likes a good challenge.

Ledyard is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing East Lyme: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Colonels blew the Vikings out of the water with a 46-7 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-0.

Jackson Favry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 252 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.0 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 113.4 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Grimm, who rushed for 78 yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ledyard was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 358 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Lyme only rushed for 95.

Meanwhile, Woodstock Academy came up short against Norwich Free Academy on Saturday and fell 13-6. The Centaurs haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Ledyard is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.8 points over those games. As for Woodstock Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Ledyard took their victory against Woodstock Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 35-14 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonels since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
