Volleyball Game Preview: West Chicago Wildcats vs. Streamwood Sabres

West Chicago has gone a perfect 5-0 against Streamwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Sabres at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, West Chicago beat Ridgewood 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-23.

West Chicago can attribute much of their success to Thomas Cabrera, who had 15 assists, and Logan Reed, who had 11 assists and two aces. That's the most assists Cabrera has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Streamwood sidestepped Elgin for a 2-1 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sabres have posted against the Maroons since April 29, 2023.

Streamwood had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 26-28, 25-12, 25-16.

West Chicago's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. As for Streamwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

West Chicago was able to grind out a solid win over Streamwood when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 2-0. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sabres turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
